Punctuation for Dummies
Peter wrote to me that he was concerned about an apostrophe catastrophe committed by John Wiley & Sons, publisher of the For Dummies series. Their web site appears to be catastrophe-free, but they apparently sent out a badly punctuated promotional blurb to a bunch of conferences. Peter found the same error on seven different conference web sites. Here's one example:

I just found your blog, and I'm so happy to see someone else as horrified as I am by bad or missing punctuation! Have you explored the less/fewer catastrophe (especially prevalent at the grocery store)?
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I'm glad that you like my blog! I do get annoyed by the less/fewer error. Fancier supermarkets (e.g., Whole Foods) seem to get it right most of the time.
